Flower mornings - Bella Meyer

as part of the special 50th anniversary weekend of the museum!
from Friday, July 7th to Sunday, July 9th, 2023
Musée national Marc Chagall

Floral creations
and activation of a participatory floral sculpture

every day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

On July 7, 1973, the national museum dedicated to the works of Marc Chagall opened in Nice. Marc Chagall himself was born on July 7, 1887, in Vitebsk, Belarus. The Friends of the Museum association was born alongside the museum. It has always celebrated these two anniversaries, and this year in 2023, even more so, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary!

For this occasion, Bella Meyer, floral designer and granddaughter of Marc Chagall, has created a participatory artwork.

Bella Meyer, a floral designer, grew up in Switzerland immersed in an artistic culture inherited from her grandfather, Marc Chagall. While completing her Ph.D. in Medieval Art History in Paris, she moved to New York to work at the cultural services of the French Embassy. She continued her research on Romanesque art and spirituality, wrote and gave lectures on the work of Marc Chagall, while also dedicating herself to designing costumes, masks, accessories, and eventually puppets for the theater. With a sensitivity to aesthetics and colors, Bella ultimately reaffirmed her passion for art through floral design. Since 2005, she has been devoted to creating floral arrangements that are imbued with stories in her floral design studio, fleursBELLA, located in New York.

The floral creations will be on display every day in various spaces throughout the museum.
The activation of the participatory floral sculpture is open to everyone in the museum gardens on Friday, July 7th, Saturday, July 8th, and Sunday, July 9th, without any registration required.
