Mosaic, often referred to as the "painting of eternity", is an age-old art form that has spanned the ages, constantly renewing itself. Initially used for utilitarian and decorative purposes, it has evolved to incorporate a wide variety of materials such as marble, glass paste, shells and many more.

During these two days of demonstrations, you'll have the opportunity to observe the different techniques for making mosaics, as well as learn more about the materials and tools used to shape these creations.

Directed by Chrystèle Albertini...

Image of Chrystèle Albertini in front of one of her mosaic worksBorn on October 13, 1972, Chrystèle Albertini fell into the pot of colors at an early age. Her grandfather Jules, a Venetian glassmaker, settled in Montigny-lès-Cormeilles in 1925, and since then, the Albertini family has perpetuated the craft of glass for stained glass windows and mosaics. In the family workshop, it's a real eight-handed job, shared between her parents, Marguerite and Gérard, Chrystèle herself, and her brother Frédéric, to shape this material.

In 2001, Chrystèle founded the association "Duo d'Éclat Mosaïque ", with the desire to pass on her know-how. She combines her expertise in glass, mastered from manufacture to installation, with her taste for teaching. She leads mosaic workshops in schools and cultural centers, and organizes courses for individuals, directly in her workshop, at the very heart of the family manufacture.

A committed artist and seasoned craftswoman, Chrystèle creates a variety of works: paintings, murals, bathrooms, and custom decorations for architects, local authorities and private individuals. She also excels in the restoration of antique mosaics, restoring battered floors and walls to their former glory.Médaille du meilleur ouvrier de France mosaïste

Since 1996, she has taken part in numerous exhibitions, including the prestigious Chartres biennials. In 2015, her work was recognized by her peers and awarded the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France.

From glassmaking to artwork design, Chrystèle cuts herself to pieces in the service of "the art of mosaic."

... And Anne Sauvaigo

Mosaicist for over 30 years, Anne Sauvaigo got her start at the Parisian Roman Mosaic School. There, she learned a demanding art, based on a predominantly Roman technique and materials around marble.

It was when she discovered pâte de verre at the Albertini workshops that she freed herself from this classical world. It was a real revelation for her, a love at first sight for this material. Today, Anne Sauvaigo works with passion in both marble and glass.

Created in 1925 in Montigny-lès-Cormeilles, the Albertini manufacture is the only company in France that makes glass plates for mosaics by hand. Founded by Jules Albertini, a Murano glassmaker, this family-run manufacture offers over 1500 shades of glass, each piece unique in its tint, thickness or brilliance.
