The Musée National Marc Chagall and the Orchestre Philharmonique de l'Opéra de Nice and continue their long-standing collaboration: for over twenty years, chamber music has resonated in the exceptional setting of the museum's concert hall opposite Marc Chagall's stained glass La Création du monde.

Pierrette Mari is a French composer and musicographer born in Nice in 1929. She studied music at the Nice Conservatoire (1943-1946), winning four prizes (piano, solfège, music history, harmony). She entered the Conservatoire National de Musique in Paris in 1950, in the classes of Noël Gallon, Tony Aubin and Olivier Messiaen, and won a first prize in counterpoint in 1953, and a first prize in fugue the following year. In 1956, she was awarded an Austrian scholarship to take part in the colloquium Musique et Théâtre in Salzburg.

A critic for newspapers and music magazines, she has written several biographies: Olivier Messiaen, Béla Bartók and Henri Dutilleux (2 biographies in 1974 and 1988). From 1977 onwards, she taught at the Université Paris Sorbonne-Paris IV, where, after obtaining a double C.A d'Etat (music history and aesthetics), she was awarded tenure in 1981.

The museum is open every day except Tuesdays, January 1, May 1 and December 25.
