Latest acquisitions - New hanging of the permanent display
from November 3rd 2018 to April 29th 2019
The brand new hanging of the permanent display in Marc Chagall national Museum highlights the artist’s artwork inspired by the Mediterranean and produced on the spot. Marc Chagall move to Vence city in 1949 then he settled down in 1966 in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, where he remains until he died.
Marc Chagall’s masterpieces, included Le Cirque bleu and La Danse painting are exhibited once again in the collections room. They are side by side with the recent acquisitions, among Chagall’s first lithographs and a never shown set of ceramics.
Those ceramics, produced in Vallauris’ Madoura workshop in the 1950’s, purchased by the Museum in 2017, are displayed next to pieces from private collections for the first time. This Mediterranean overview is completed by some Marc Chagall’s bright sculptures, coming from Museum collections.
