Practical information
In the grounds of the Vallauris priory, in the heart of the old town, the Pablo Picasso national museum, La Guerre et la Paix, occupies the space of the Romanesque chapel. It is located just a stone's throw from the Magnelli municipal museum, a ceramics museum, and marks the first stop on a route through the town linking the places where Picasso lived and worked.
Having been a resident in Vallauris since 1948, Picasso chose this chapel to install a monumental mural composition entitled La Guerre et la Paix. This work, created specifically for the space, condemns the horrors of war with passion and inventiveness, and testifies to the artist's commitment to peace.

In recent years, photographic and filmic practice in museums and monuments has become a common phenomenon, often finding its extension on social networks. The French Ministry of Culture and Communication has decided to help museums and visitor associations draw up a charter of understanding setting out the main rules for visiting and sharing culture in the digital age. This charter is likely to inspire other ministries, local authorities and the whole network of cultural structures in the heritage field.
