The catalogue raisonné of Marc Chagall's ceramics lists 350 ceramics produced between 1949 and 1972 (vases, dishes and plates, jugs, tiles and plaques). They are presented in the catalogue in chronological order, without distinction of technique or theme. The techniques used in the ceramics are based on research and observation of the ceramics with restorers. As the techniques Chagall experimented with were innovative and still being studied, our knowledge of them is evolving and sometimes hypothetical.

The catalogue raisonné is based on a systematic study of the archives and documentation in the Marc and Ida Chagall Archives, the documents in all the archives identified and available, and the research previously carried out by Meret Meyer and Sylvie Forestier for the book Les céramiques de Marc Chagall published by Albin Michel in 1990.

Sofiya Glukhova and Quitterie du Vigier were responsible for research and iconography, and Eva Belgherbi for scientific documentation and bibliographical research. The texts of the catalogue raisonné were written by Ambre Gauthier, Sofiya Glukhova and Quitterie Touzet du Vigier.

Following this fruitful research, several articles are available online at marcchagall.com:
