A poetic odyssey from Atlantis: Between voyage and initiatory tale - Critias
An artistic journey through the work of Marc Chagall, like an odyssey seeking to unlock the secrets of Atlantis

 

  • 2:30pm: Opening of Mars at the Museums at the Musée Chagall
  • from 2:45pm to 2:50pm: Theater reading #1: Once upon a time, Atlantis
    - Divine origins and the creation of Atlantis (Timaeus 23c-24d, with complementary parts)
    Location: in the museum garden / in the Bilbic Message room (in case of rain)
  • from 3pm to 4pm: Carte blanche by students from the Nice conservatory, an event designed in collaboration with Master 1 EMIC students
    Mediation of works by Marc Chagall by Master 1 EMIC students, as part of the museum's "Chagall 1966 - 1985. Dans la lumièrede Saint Paul de Vence"
    Projection of works during dance and musical performances by students from the Conservatoire régional de Nice.

  • from 3:15pm to 3:25pm: Echoes of Atlantis: Poetry Slam by Oriane Cunha
    Discover three slams from her repertoire:
    - La Sirène (3min)
    - Alors, j'écris? (3 min)
    - Un peu sorcière (3min)
    Location: in the museum garden / in the Bilbic Message room (in case of rain)
  • from 3:30pm to 4:10pm: Journey to the heart of the works: M1 students guide you
    Student mediation of works by Marc Chagall in the Musée Chagall collections
    Location: Biblical Message room, Mosaic room
  • from 4:30pm to 4:40pm: Staged reading #2: Once upon a time, Atlantis
    - Splendor and organization of Atlantis (Critias 113d-114th, with extensions)
    - Power and expansion of Atlantis (Critias 114e-115d, with extensions)
    Location: Biblical Message Room
  • from 5pm to 5:10pm: Les Mots engloutis, Slam Poetry by Oriane Cunh
    Participatory workshop: upon arrival at the museum, the public will be invited to write on a piece of paper words related to Atlantis, the sea, the oceans, the
    voyage. These words will be collected in a jar and the artist will write a slam based on them, in the afternoon. She will return at 5pm to present her original slam. She will explain her creative writing process.

    The Corruption and Moral Decline of the Atlanteans (Critias 120d-121c, with extensions)
    - The Destruction of Atlantis (Timaeus 25c-d, with descriptive additions)
    Location: museum auditorium
  • from 5:30pm to 5:50pm: Memories of a lost Atlantis
    Dancer Maria Cargnelli accompanied by harpist Camille Refait, offer a harp/dance duet illustrating Critias's words and allowing the audience to be immersed in the story, the imaginary, the journey, and to close this journey within the tale of Atlantis.

Opening hours

The museum is open every day except Tuesdays, January 1, May 1 and December 25.

May to end of October: 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm
november to end of April: 10am to 1pm and 2:30pm to 5pm

The museum is open on Saturday, March 22, exceptionally until 6pm, for the March at the Museums festivities.

Rates

The admission ticket includes access to the permanent collection and a multilingual audioguide.

Full price: €10
Reduced rate: 8 €
Groups (from 10 pers.) : 8,50 €

During the special March to Museums day, museum admission is free for all students, including those from outside the European Union.
