Musée national Pablo Picasso, La Guerre et la Paix
Awena Cozannet
Every day is eternal
The exhibition at Vallauris is part of a series of invitations extended by the National Museums of the XXth century in the Alpes-Maritimes to contemporary artists to exhibit in the chapel of the Musée National Pablo Picassonational Museum in Vallauris. These exhibitions, designed to reflect Picasso's masterpiece War and Peace, explore contemporary ideas around the theme of commitment.
Awena Cozannet, a sculptor who also works in photography, installation and drawing, has been invited to take over the chapel at the Musée National Pablo Picasso in Vallauris. Awena Cozannet's works invite us to reflect on the notions of displacement, perspectives and shared projects. At a time of migration, conflict and climate change, these great figures in motion also echo her more personal questions: with what inner baggage, but also what weight, does each individual move forward in life? Peddling heritages that are both rich and destabilising, each person, driven by their own driving force, participates in the emergence of new ways of thinking, in a posture of reaction, resistance or construction. Hand-stitched and machine-stitched, her large textile sculptures are made from production offcuts, recycled mountain ropes, carrying straps and manufactured elements.
