Chagall : from black & white to colour
Exhibition in the Hôtel de Caumont - Art Centre, Aix-en-Provence city
From November 1st 2018 to March 24th 2019
This exhbition is focused on the second part of Marc Chagall's artistic carrier, highlights the diversity of his artworks and reveals his creation step by step, from 1948, the year when he came back to France, until he died in 1985.
130 works of art (paintings, drawings, washing, tempera, collage, sculptures, ceramics) illustrate Marc Chagall's exploration of black & white technique and his deep knowledge of all the colours as well.
Marc Chagall's National Museum, for this special occasion in Aix, lent two paintings which are from Museum's permanent collections :
- La Tour de David (1968-71), oil on canvas, 117 x 90 cm.
- L'Exode (1952), linen oil on canvas, 130 x 162,30 cm.
