Exhibition "Mounira Al Solh"

Multidisciplinary artist working in video, photography, installation, drawing or embroidery, Mounira Al Solh (born in 1978 in Beirut) is invited to invest the chapel of the Pablo Picasso national Museum in Vallauris.
The artist tackles the issues of displacement on the scale of Europe and the Mediterranean, and in particular the Syrian refugee crisis, which has been at the origin of several series of works since 2012.
Mixing collective and personal stories, Mounira Al Solh's work is nourished by collected narratives, as so many ways of evoking resilience in the face of contemporary conflicts. Her work has recently been exhibited at Documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel (2017) and in solo exhibitions at the Art Institute in Chicago and the Mathaf in Doha (2018).
This exhibition presented in Vallauris is part of the series of invitations made by the national Museums of 20th century in the Alpes-Maritimes to contemporary artists to exhibit in the chapel of the Pablo Picasso National Museum in Vallauris. Thought to resonate with Picasso's masterpiece, War and Peace, these exhibitions explore contemporary proposals around the theme of commitment.
