STAMP
Arman made his first "Cachets" by repeatedly and randomly obliterating a sheet of paper with ink stamps.

1956
COMBINE
Niki de Saint Phalle creates her first assemblage-paintings using everyday materials that she inserts into plaster on plywood or isorel panels.

1957
SOAK
Yves Klein inaugurated his "blue period" with a series of identical ultramarine monochromes, which he later called IKB, for International Klein Blue.

TEAR
At the Galerie Colette Allendy, Raymond Hains and Jacques Villeglé show torn advertising posters collected in the streets of Paris.

1958
EMPTY/FILL
Yves Klein creates a scandal at the Iris Clert gallery in Paris. His exhibition "Le Vide" ["The Void"] featured nothing just white walls. Two years later, Arman obstructed the front of the gallery with rubbish and presents "Le Plein" [The Full].

1959
ACCUMULATE
Arman began the "Accumulations" series, a collection of identical objects, first ordinary and worn, then new, revealing the vertigo of consumption.

COMPRESS
César's "Compressions" of cars using a hydraulic press, presented as sculptures, created a scandal. 

TRAP
Daniel Spoerri created his first "Tableaux-Pièges" ["Snare-Pictures"], an action/concept that consisted of gluing and then tipping vertically "situations prepared by chance", flea market stalls and leftovers.

ENHANCE
Martial Raysse creates assemblages of new objects that elevate the all-plastic, single-use society to the status of artworks, before setting the stage for the sensual, artificial image of the leisure society.

1960
ANTHROPOMETRISING
In the public performance Anthropométries de l'époque bleue at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art in Paris, Klein invited three women to smear themselves with paint and place their naked body imprints on the paper, accompanied by his Monoton-Silence Symphony.

WRAP
Christo made his first wrappings of objects. 

INAUGURATE
On 13 May, Pierre Restany and Raymond Hains attend the opening of the Museum Fernand Léger in Biot.

ESTABLISH
The Declaration establishing the New Realists group is signed by Pierre Restany, Arman, François Dufrêne, Raymond Hains, Yves Klein, Martial Raysse, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely and Jacques Villeglé in Yves Klein's Paris flat. Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps and Christo later join the group.

1961
SHOOT
Niki de Saint Phalle inaugurates her "Actions-Tirs" ["Shooting-Paintings"] at her exhibition "Feu à volonté" [Fire at will], at Galerie J in Paris. Guests fired rifles at plaster reliefs containing bags of coloured paint, which dripped onto the assembled paintings. Jean Tinguely, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg were among the artists present. 

BURN
Yves Klein experimented with different flame imprints in his "Peintures de feu" [Fire Paintings] at the Gaz de France test station in La Plaine Saint-Denis.

DECONSTRUCT
Arman began the "Colères" ["Angers"] series, destroying old furniture and musical instruments with a sledgehammer. 

CELEBRATE
Pierre Restany organises the first New Realism festival in Nice, with a series of action-performances.

COMPETE
The exhibition "The Art of Assemblage" organised by the Museum of Modern Art in New York featured a dialogue between Cubism, New Realism and Pop Art. The Chelsea Hotel was a stopover for the New Realists, who met up with the New York scene.

1962
ELECTRIFY
Martial Raysse introduces neon light into a work of art for the first time in France.

1965
NANA-MAKING
Niki de Saint Phalle creates her first "Nanas". They became monumental and colourful, spreading out into the public space and asserting their emancipation and power.

1979
DREAM
Niki de Saint Phalle builds her dream, a park of monumental, playful and immersive sculptures: the Tarot Garden, in Italy.

1954
TIMBRARE
Arman realizza i suoi primi "Cachet" ["Timbro"] annullando ripetutamente e casualmente un foglio di carta con timbri a inchiostro.

1956
ASSEMBLARE
Niki de Saint Phalle crea i suoi primi quadri-assemblaggio utilizzando materiali di uso quotidiano che inserisce in gesso su pannelli di compensato o isorel.

1957
IMPREGNARE
Yves Klein inaugura il suo "periodo blu" con una serie di monocromi d'oltremare identici, che in seguito chiamerà IKB, per International Klein Blue.

LACERARE
Alla Galerie Colette Allendy, Raymond Hains e Jacques Villeglé espongono manifesti pubblicitari strappati raccolti nelle strade di Parigi.

1958
SVUOTARE / RIEMPIRE
Yves Klein provoca uno scandalo alla galleria Iris Clert a Parigi. La sua mostra "Le Vide" ["Il Vuoto"] presenta solo pareti bianche. Due anni dopo, Arman ostruisce la facciata della galleria con rifiuti e presenta "Le Plein" ["Il Pieno"].

1959
ACCUMULARE
Arman inizia la serie delle "Accumulazioni", una raccolta di oggetti identici, prima ordinari e usurati, poi nuovi, che rivelano la vertigine del consumo.

COMPRESSARE
Le "Compressioni" di automobili realizzate da César con una pressa idraulica, presentate come sculture, provocano scandalo. 

INTRAPPOLARE
Daniel Spoerri ha creato i suoi primi "Tableaux-Pièges" [Dipinti a Trappola], un'azione/concetto che consisteva nell'incollare e poi rovesciare verticalmente "situazioni preparate per caso", bancarelle del mercato delle pulci e avanzi.

SUBLIMARE
Martial Raysse crea assemblaggi di nuovi oggetti che elevano la società della plastica e del monouso al rango di opere d'arte, prima di rappresentare l'immagine sensuale e artificiale della società del tempo libero.

1960
ANTROPOMETISARE
Nella performance pubblica Anthropométries de l'époque bleue alla Galerie Internationale d'Art Contemporain di Parigi, Klein invita tre donne a spalmarsi di pittura e a porre l'impronta dei loro corpi nudi sulla carta, accompagnate dalla sua Symphonie Monoton-Silence.

EMPAQUETARE
Christo realizza i suoi primi imballaggi di oggetti. 

INAUGURARE
Il 13 maggio, Pierre Restany e Raymond Hains partecipano all'inaugurazione del Museo Fernand Léger di Biot. 

COSTITUARE
La dichiarazione che istituisce il gruppo Nuovi Realisti è firmata da Pierre Restany, Arman, François Dufrêne, Raymond Hains, Yves Klein, Martial Raysse, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely e Jacques Villeglé nell'appartamento parigino di Yves Klein. In seguito si uniscono al gruppo anche Niki de Saint Phalle, Gérard Deschamps e Christo.

1961
SPARARE
Niki de Saint Phalle inaugura le sue "Actions-Tirs" in occasione della mostra "Feu à volonté" ["Fuoco a volontà "] alla Galerie J di Parigi. Gli invitati sparano con i fucili su rilievi di gesso contenenti sacche di vernice colorata, che cola sui tableaux-assemblages [tavoli di montaggio]. Tra gli artisti presenti, Jean Tinguely, Jasper Johns e Robert Rauschenberg. 

BRUCIARE
Yves Klein sperimenta diverse impronte di fiamma nelle sue "Peintures de feu" presso il centro di sperimentazione Gaz de France a La Plaine Saint-Denis.

COSTRUIRE
Arman ha iniziato la serie "Colères" ["Rabbia"], distruggendo vecchi mobili e strumenti musicali con una mazza. 

CELEBRARE
Il primo festival del Nuovo Realismo viene organizzato a Nizza da Pierre Restany, con una serie di azioni-performance.

RIVALIZZARE
La mostra "The Art of Assemblage", organizzata dal Museum of Modern Art di New York, riunisce Cubismo, Nuovo Realismo e Pop Art. Il Chelsea Hotel fu una tappa per i Nuovi Realisti, che si incontrarono con la scena newyorkese.

1962
ELETTRIZZARE
Martial Raysse introduce per la prima volta in Francia il neon in un'opera d'arte.

1965
FARE-NANA
Niki de Saint Phalle crea le sue prime "Nanas". Diventano monumentali e colorate, si srotolano negli spazi pubblici e affermano la loro emancipazione e il loro potere. 

1979
SOGNARE
Niki de Saint Phalle costruisce il suo sogno, un parco di sculture monumentali, giocose e immersive: il Giardino dei Tarocchi, in Italia.
