a co-production of BIAC, the International Biennial of Circus Arts of Marseille, and the National Museums of the 20th Century of the Alpes-Maritimes

Hêtre was born from a reflection on the vital need for solitude. Today we are besieged by external stimuli, solicited almost every moment of the day and night by ever more pressing and demanding needs. It is increasingly difficult for us to find moments of pause and silence. How then can we centre ourselves and know ourselves? How can we privilege those sweet moments of solitude that forge our person and our freedom?

In the show Hêtre, the relationship with the apparatus is essential. The branch is not only an object, a support, it is tamed as a real partner. The performer must try to lose himself in the imagination inspired by the branch, nature and the forest, while remaining as close as possible to himself. For more information

Archaos, Archaos, a creative company that is emblematic of contemporary circus, was awarded the Pôle National Cirque label by the Ministry of Culture in 2012. The Pôle welcomes numerous companies in residence and develops a training, professional integration and distribution project. It places this dynamic at the heart of the working class neighbourhoods of the greater Marseille area. This globalized artistic support project is based on the experience and artistic practice of the Archaos company.
Initiated in 2013 during the Marseille European Capital of Culture and supported by the ARCHAOS association, BIAC was founded and launched in 2015 by Guy Carrara and Raquel de Andrade. Today, it is one of the largest contemporary circus festivals in the world, hosting young international companies every two years.
