Choreography and design: Asier Edeso

The new creations presented by the dancers of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo are an opportunity to combine dance with other artistic disciplines in a light format that brings the works of art into dialogue with the body in movement. This form of outside dance performance is part of a common desire on the part of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo and the national museums to offer events that restore the sense of art performance to the live show.

As part of the temporary exhibition Chagall in limited editions. Illustrated books, Asier Edeso presents a dance performance based on the notion of replication and the connections between the original and the copy. Similarity or evolutionary play despite a technique aiming to retrieve the identical? Deviations are always possible. Lithography and dance are living arts whose material is just as lively. Leather, wood, stone for one... flesh, muscle and spirit for the other. Engraving is done in hollows, releasing the pattern from the material, just as dance releases the movement from the space.

Asier Edeso has interpreted roles in Jean-Christophe Maillot's choreographies: one of the Two Acolytes in Romeo and Juliet; a Superintendent of Pleasure in Cinderella; a Craftsman in The Dream; Lucifer in Faust; an Archangel of Darkness in LAC; the Director's Assistant in Choré; Grumio in The Taming of the Shrew.
