In addition to temporary exhibitions, the Marc Chagall National Museum offers a rich cultural programme of events every year from September to June. In a spirit of openness to the widest possible audience, the programme gives pride of place to living art in all its forms and participates, with the support of creative partnerships, in the cultural dynamic of the Côte d'Azur region.
The concert hall of the Marc Chagall National Museum
The presence of a concert hall in the museum was desired by Marc Chagall, a lover of music and the performing arts. He designed the three stained glass windows of The Creation of the World (1971-1972) which bathe the hall in their exceptional blue light. The stage houses a harpsichord, the lid of which was painted in 1980 by Marc Chagall. Olivier Messiaen, Yvonne Loriod and Mstislav Rostropovitch have performed in this prestigious setting. The auditorium hosts an annual programme of concerts, lectures and dance performances.
Events, season after season
Every year, the Marc Chagall National Museum hosts new creations, combining the world of the intellect with that of the performing arts, as well as festivals of regional and national importance:
- cycle of chamber music concerts, in partnerships with the Orchestre Philharmonique de l'Opéra de Nice
- dancing performances, in partnership with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo
- series of lectures on art history and art philosophy, in partnership with the l’Université Côte d’Azur et l’Association des Amis du musée national Marc Chagall
- cartes banches, or student's auditions of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement régional de Nice - Pierre Cochereau
- musical creations and show for young audience, as part of the festival MANCA
